Temper temper

It’s funny how simple things can make you so angry your blood boils, your face turns red and you want to burst into tears. My mate pointed out at the weekend that I might have anger management issues and I’m beginning to think she’s right.
The other night I attempted what I thought would be the very simple task of putting together a mini trampoline. Great exercise, good for the rehabilitation of my weak ankle and a bit of fun to boot.
An hour later and I was ready to throw it out the window. In fact, I did throw it against the wall. And broke it. And then I threw it again. I tried and tried and lost my patience. There was no way on earth this simple bit of kit was gonna fit together and I’d wasted an hour of my precious time for diddly squat. I was so angry I burst into tears and had to go to bed early to relax the veins which were popping out of my head.
A dramatic reaction you may think? I agree! And I have no idea where it came from. I think I’m gonna put it down to general life stress, which gets the blame for most things that go wrong in people’s lives.
A big part of it, as I’ve mentioned here before, is because I’ve not been able to play sport for a while. So last night I returned to training and hobbled around court for a while. Okay, so I wasn’t very mobile (some may say nothing’s changed) and I didn’t do any jumping, but it felt great to hammer a ball over the net and get a bit sweaty.
So hitting the slopes in France this weekend will be a great cure for my build-up of aggression and frustration. Great views, fresh mountain air, blue skies (fingers crossed), and girly mates. Bring it on!
PS Those who know me shouldn’t be alarmed at this dramatic trampoline-induced rage. I’m not the sort of person to run down the High Street with rifle because I need target practise. I could never get that angry!
Motorway rage – please keep to the left!

I really do think that people’s unwillingness to use motorways properly is contributing the (horrible) amount of time I spend sitting in traffic jams. For God’s sake people, keep to the left if you’re not overtaking – it’s not rocket science!
I frequently find the “fast” lane rammed with cars trying to overtake the middle lane when the only movement in the inside lane is a caravan and a couple of lorries. Come on peeps, please use the motorways properly so we can avoid turning them into massive car parks. Rant over.
